Mortar board card for a wonderful daughter

A mortar board card (diamond top card) is a nice card to give to a loved one who is entering university or has just been conferred a degree. My youngest daughter Audrey will be starting her first term in Trinity College Dublin in September so I thought that she deserves a token to reflect a mother's pride.

The inside of the card has a pocket to insert a little something.

Acetate cards

When I was using transparencies for the overhead projector in the classroom a long time ago before the LCD projector was invented, I used to have a lot of leftover acetate sheets. These have now come in handy for my card making. You can also find acetate sheets on toy packaging (so you can see the toy inside) or boxes for DIY models.

The acetate sheet used in the card below gives it a see-through effect - something different and special.

For the next card, I made use of satin ribbons to create a lattice effect before fixing the acetate sheet on top. This is like a window that protects the satin ribbons.

A spectrum of cards

It has been drizzling today after days of glorious sunshine. I actually welcome the rain as it is good for the flowers and vegetables. So decided to spend the day making cards as my stock is getting low and there are so many special events coming up. Tried my hand at making some flip cards and pocket cards. I learnt that from Christina Griffith's you-tube post.
