Through the Looking Glass: Alice in Candyland

Isn't it wonderful to doze off under a tree and then fall into a rabbit hole? And then to stumble upon a house all filled with candy. Unlike Hansel and Gretel, the sweets are all mine for the eating with no consequences...except when I step on the weighing scales.

I made use of Autumn-themed papers to construct the box-house. Then fussy cut pictures of irregular sizes. Nothing is to scale, time is upside down:  to emphasise the dream like ambience....

Good things come in pairs

Sitting on the steps of Trinity College, Dublin

Good things come in pairs.  We clap with both hands. Chopsticks come in pairs. A glove, sock or shoe would be quite useless if the matching partner is missing. Even the chinese character of joy when duplicated becomes double joy.

So I have made a number of cards and tags which come in pairs and complement each other.......'

Can't wait for Christmas to come again so it's time to stock up Christmas cards...I can never make too many of them!

Autumn Projects

It's Autumn, my favourite season. Leaves are turning red and falling. Summer plants are saying goodbye and Hachi spends more time in his kennel as the weather gets colder and the winds blow stronger.

This is a tag using Autumn colours.

This is an altered jar with Halloween candy inside. Think chocolates in the shape of tiny pumpkins!

Sep's farewell

Sep will be leaving us for Washington early this month. The International Women's Organisation, Limerick decided to have a get-together at Castletroy Park and we all brought gifts and food. I made her a mini so she would remember the year she spent with us and all the lovely memories that went with it.

It was wonderful to see so many nationalities gather together amidst laughter and tears.

Sep's parents......lovely and gentle people who flew in from Iran to be with us. Sep's dad gave a speech ( in Persian and Sep translated) which moved us all to tears.
